Technical Leader
at Blue Ocean Robotics
Feb 2021 — Aug 2021
Drove the product through a critical scale-up phase — improving the technology stack, streamlining market feedback loops, and aligning cross-functionally with other business units. Maintained a daily presence on the production floor to mature manufacturing procedures, moving the team from being called in every day to predictable robot behavior in the field. Established an Agile-inspired organizational structure that channels customer and expert feedback directly into product decisions.
Key achievements
- Led a team of 13 people of 5 different nationalities and multiple technical backgrounds to scale the product from a handful to more than 500 units sold.
- Secured TUV Rheinland certification — conducting most verification tests, leading recurrent risk assessments, and reviewing compliance against the standards.

Behind the Scenes

Under the hood
Spearheaded standardized factory calibration procedures: intermediate checks to confirm sensors were properly mounted and configured, plus a final full-robot calibration to verify everything operated within spec. No formal calibration process existed before — this was a key enabler of scaling to 500+ units.
Matured the ROS-based navigation stack by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in localization, mapping, and robot movement. Monitored the fleet via Grafana dashboards with anomaly alerting, backed by VPN access to every robot in the field for remote diagnostics and control.
